Pastor Tommie Lee Brewer is a born again Christian, he is filled with the precious Holy Spirit. He is married to Teresa Shoulders. He has three children, eleven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He is a native of LaGrange, Georgia, an is the oldest of eight children born to Andrew Lee and Virginia Brewer. He has been a resident of Canton, Ohio for 42 years. Finding something positive out of every negative situation is what he strives to do on a daily basis.
He has served as chairman of the Antioch Baptist’s Trustee Board for 7 years, President of the Laymen's League, Assistant Superintendent of the Sunday school, and a member of the Christian Board of Education. He is the past President and Vice President of the Canton–Warren-Youngstown Sub-District Laymen's Auxiliary. He has also served as the Treasurer and Vice-President of the Northern Ohio Baptist District Association Laymen's Auxiliary.
Pastor Tommie was elected President of the N.O.B.DA Laymen's Auxiliary in July of 1998. He completed his second year of a four year term in office in July 2000. It was at this time; he announced his calling into the ministry. His desire to be obedient to God and His word is important to his daily living. He accepted his calling to preach the word of God in November of 1999. His first sermon "under the calling" was preached on January 23, 2000, at the Antioch Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. Richard L. Jordan. He chose to attend Malone College to pursue a degree in Bible Theology.
Pastor Brewer's favorite scripture and one that he lives by comes from Matthew 6:33, "But seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be added unto you." He loves everybody, and that is due to the love he has FIRST for the Lord. A love that requires no response.
On December 13, 2008 Pastor Brewer was called by The Gethsemane Baptist Church Canton, Ohio to be their Pastor. On January 4, 2009, he officially took the pulpit and has been excitedly sharing the word of God on a weekly basis.
Pastor Brewer loves God, his Holy Word, and the church. He is active in outreach ministry, serves as a messenger of God at the Stark County Jail and anywhere else Gods orders his steps.
